Domino Drawers

I was cruiseing U Tube looking for info on how to make domino drawers with thru dominos. I was watching how Sheen did his and was impressed. He use dogs to keep the drawer fronts straight and clamped the sides to the MFT. I thought that was a cool idea. Then he used a old dovetail jig to align them. I thought that was cool to. But I dont have a old dovetail jig.

So what I did was use my qwas dogs for the drawer faces and used a qwas rail dog as a stop. To easy

One photo is the flush faces useing a woodpeckers scale to show you the alignment. When using the festool  clamps to hold the drswer stock in place it makes for a bomb proof set up and quick

In terms of simplicity and repeatability, this alignment jig (originally intended for transferring dovetails) shines and it can be adapted for use on an MFT or any bench to mortise drawers:

The jig of any size to suit your work can be made from plywood or MDF and the butt joint can be pit together using dominos. The fence can be nailed, screwed or glued to the jig.

From the pictures, it looks like the top of the MFT and the side extrusion have to be perfectly at  90 degrees for this method to produce square joints. What am I missing?

I made a jig for that sole purpose when I built my shop cabinet drawers. The jig look similar to Chuck link with two Bessey Clamps. I used it this week end to make some clamp racks  [big grin]

Now that the design is finalized and we are in BETA testing we will know the preliminary launch date in a few weeks. It becomes a marketing strategy issue what we should disclose once the Patent Applications have been filed. Not sure yet what makes business sense in that regard. One step at a time.

Nothing convinces a retailer more than customers asking them to carry a product line. We suggest to any of our friends and customers to approach their dealers and suggest they consider adding TSO to their product offerings. This has already brought several dealers on board in the US and international.

We are also finding ways to show our appreciation to our customers in those cases  [smile] [smile]

TSO...can you tell me if you have introduced this magic product yet?  I would love to make domino drawers.  And I'm really happy I waited to buy the Guide Rail Square because I thought I'd try the hinge thing that comes with the MFT table.  I haven't gotten that hooked up yet, but now that the guide rail works with the hinge thing, it's now on my definitely ready to buy list.    I'm rotating my workbench and I think I'll now have room to install the hinge thing and guide square.  I can't get a straight cut, even though I line up my rail with a triangle (one that appears to be a true right angle...).  ARGH!  I think the rail is slipping on me.

Hi All - our "June new tool intro date" continues to slip at the moment because we are still working on lowering the cost. A flock of prototypes are in BETA testing and have been found to perform as intended with no design changes.

Once we conclude the cost optimization we'll be in production quickly. Thanks for your patience.

I am not interested in making Domino drawers (at least not the "exposed" kind), but I am interested in this upcoming, new product as I may be able to use it (with modification or without) to meet other joinery needs.

By the way, as I see it, the simplest way to make a Domino drawer is to use any shop-made dovetail alignment board.
