how do you guys and gals domino in the center of a board.  for example for shelves. to line up the domino's so both sides match?

Kreg, I use the backside of the MFT's guide rail. The Domino's base is 10 mm to the center of the cutter. Make marks for your shelves taking into account the 10 mm offset, line up the marks with the back of the rail and cut. See attached photo.

honeydokreg,
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for posting about one of the most popular tools in the Festool lineup.

Please check this discussion, always meant in a friendly way ---> click here.

Thanks,
Matthew

matthew,

am I missing something, I clicked on it and it was about something totally different.

thanks for the welcome.  you can also see my review of the ts75 at the festool website under the saw... click reviews.  thats me.

I think it is in relation to the way we spell the Festool words ie domino instead of domono or domonio etc as in your first post. We know what you mean but some folk new to the slope might not and it would just help people search for topics easily and completely.

However I have be known to be completely off track before... :P

You're on track -- the way we spell Festool-related terms is the thing!  Members often comment on the need for effective searches.  In addition to software functionality, how we all spell key terms is important.  For example, if, in a few months, someone wants information on using the Domino in the center of a board, and he/she goes into the search function entering the terms "Domino" and "center" and "board" this discussion will not show up.

So, this is a gentle prod, aimed at everyone, not just honeydokreg!

As honeydokreg says in his signature, "pay attention to the details."

matthew,

thanks, I corrected the spelling!  (ps: that's why I am a carpenter can't spell but sure do know math well!

Rick Christopherson's excellent Domino manual discusses this. I've tried his technique and it works spot on. I made a simple jig to help out--it's one of those jigs where I can't ever remember what it does until I need it and then the lights go on. The rest of the time I just see it and think, "Hmm, that does something useful but I can't remember exactly what..."

You can get Rick's manual here.

Hey, looks good!  Thanks for understanding my nit-pickiness!  And I am positive you are better at math than I am!
Welcome to the forum.  Looking forward to all your future posts.
