Domino Joiners and Accessories on sale - starting May 1.

Bob,
You make a valid point, except for the 30 return policy Festool offers. With that 30 day return policy, then the dates for your "specials" are extended to 30 days before the start date. If I wanted to be a jerk, I could make my purchase today. Is the tools for a week or two. Return then under the 30 day rule and then immediately make the exact same purchase again, without even leaving the counter at the same shop. I would then have the lower price and Festool would be stuck with a bunch of used tools they can't sell as new.

I would think that it's in Festool's best interest, on a limited basis, to offer the sale terms to customers who will make a purchase in this time period before the sale.

You mention Festool's reasons for the start date. My bigger curiosity is why they didn't put a gag order on this information. Letting it leak out is what crated this catch 22 situation.

Bernie,

The 30 day guarantee thing applies to post purchase tools, but sure, you can do that - use and return the tools. Re-buy at the lower price. There are always work arounds to any offers made. Luckily - for everybody, most customers accept and abide by the terms; their basic sense of fair play and common decency prevents them  from doing otherwise.
Nothing was leaked out, the announcement was made to everyone yesterday. Yep, having an existing, in stock product with a later sale/discount date does present a problem for dealers as well as customers. Perhaps the sale announcement could have gone up on April 30 to avoid this particular issue, but that would have also caused problems/issues. I guess their ain't no perfect solution.....

Rats... I just purchased the Domino XL and the accessories that I wanted. I could have saved just over $100 [sad]  Would this sale include the empty domino systainer?

Thanks,

Me too.  [sad]

I bought it earlier this year to beat the inevitable 2014 price increase.  [sad]

If you bought recently, you've had the use of the machine which equates to value. We include accessories and tenons in the promo so that those who already own the tool can also benefit from some savings. Over the lifetime of the machine, you may spend more on tenons than the actual tool. Many customers will use this as an opportunity to stock up on tenons since they don't go bad. [wink]

That said, I know no one likes missing out on a deal, myself included.

Yeah...happened to me too...but, you can still get consumables that will last a long, long time.  Also, it is not 10% that you are missing out on -- more like 6%-7% since the sale price is off of the new price after the increase.  I have no regrets and as Shane noted, received some value between when I bought and now.  I think it is cool that this and the accessories are even on sale...

I wasn't really complaining and hope that people did not take it that way. I was just expressing my bad luck  [doh]  I know it is more like 6-7% savings, hence the potential $100 savings I missed out on, not that big of a deal. I received my DF700XL on 4/16 and have not had the chance to use it, probably won't use it for awhile. I also purchased all the extra cutters and 4 boxes of the long dominos 8, 10, 12 and 14, that should last me years  [embarassed]  I will probably take advantage of the sale to buy a systainer and some Sipo dominos. I am happy that Festool is having this sale.
Hopefully many more will take the plunge!
