Domino questions

Can the XL do everything the 500 can? Is it like comparing a TS75 with a 55 where the one is just bigger?
I know everybody on this board want everything Festool  [tongue] but I dont have a Domino yet (got DeWalt biscuit joiner and Mafell duo doweller). If I do decide to buy one will it be worth it to spend the extra money on the Big Momma or are their tasks too different to make it that simple?

The principles and methods of mortise and tenon joinery are shared between the Domino DF 500 and Domino XL DF 700. The DF 500 is able to make mortises that are 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10mm while the DF 700 can do 8, 10, 12 and 14mm. While there's overlap in the mortise sizes, the DF 700 can also plunge much deeper at 70mm.

As a general rule of thumb, you want the tenon to be approximately a third of the thickness of your material. So, choosing a Domino should be based on the dimensions of the material you will be joining.

It really depends on what you do/make?

I have both and predominately the DF500 is used for Cabinet work and the XL is used for heavier joinery type applications.

I would say the Xl has more versatility as the cross over of the 8mm cutter accomodates some functions on the joinery side.

Easy answer sell the Biscuit jointer and doweller and buy both!! ;D ;D

Domino, can not rotate the cutter on the spot!
I want to get on the Mafell
ideal, it's the router, and there will always be used.
I have two Domino and DE WALT, and sometimes these machines are not able to connect small parts.
