I'm looking at the refurbished Domino to purchase. I would get the set if I bought one. What is the difference between the 574308 and the 574258? Thanks!
I'm pretty sure 574258 and 574283 is the older style domino with spring-loaded metal indexing pins where 574308 is the newer style with flip-out plastic indexing stops.
As far as which is better, it seems to be largely personal preference. The common believe is that Festool changed the design because of problems with the pins sticking. I don't think it's a common problem, but Festool likes everything to be perfect. [smile]
Edit: I should add that I know for a fact 574283 is the pin version as that's the one I have. I just double checked my receipt. [smile]

As mentioned, the difference is the indexing method used. 574258 and 574283 and the older pin style (non-set and set respectively). 574307 and 574308 are the current models with the flaps.
Good, thanks. Just wanted to know before I bought. I've purchased only one refurbished tool in my life, and that turned out to be a complete disaster. I'm hoping Festool does this right, just like they do everything else. Anyone have any thoughts on this refurbished tool deal they are offering?
I think you'll find that you're getting a great value. There's a 30-day money-back guarantee if you decide otherwise. That's some peace of mind in making your purchase.
Has anyone ordered yet? I just contacted my local store and they are not going to place a Festool order for two weeks due to the freight costs involved. How can I order one of these fast so I can make sure I get one?
All of the reconditioned tools are drop shipped from our location. So, I'm a little confused about your dealer's comment regarding freight. There are many dealers, including some here on the forum, who would be happy to help you out.
If you go to the Sales and Dealers area of the forum, you will see posts by online dealers. I have dealt with Bob Marino from New Jersey for the last 9 years and can't praise him enough for his knowledge and assistance. Tom Bellemare is very active here from Texas. Sean Ackerman is another. I have placed an order with Bob for a recon tool.

Great, already contacted Bob......I'm a little disappointed with my local hardware store. Maybe I need to talk to a different sales rep, no one there had any idea about the promotion.
