Domino Slots slight askew

I have noticed that my Domino slots are slightly askew - meaning that one side of the slot is slightly higher then the other when plunging using the fence into the edge of 3/4 Inch plywood.
Is there a way to adjust the fence to correct this?

Welcome to the forum. That is likely the result of plunging too fast. It causes the cutter to do a climb cut. Slow your plunge speed.

Bart, make sure you have the fence angle lever locked before you lock the fence height lever. Bit of a design fault there.

Try a Domiplate?  It eliminates the chance of getting fence skewed.

The repeatability it offers is worth every penny.

Not to discount the merits of third-party accessories, but there's no need to buy something in addition to the Domino to get mortises that are parallel to the surface of the lumber. Also, the tightening of the fence likely has nothing to do with the  issue being experienced. It is very likely plunge rate, as I mentioned.

Yes you are correct Shane re fence, I misread the problem expressed.  [embarassed]
What happened to me recently with a loose fence was a cascading series of mortise holes! [eek]

I would agree with Shane. While some of the third party equipment for the Domino appear to make things easier or, in some cases, even more accurate repetitively on a single project, I do not have any of these at this point still being a new user of the Domino. I think you can use it accurately and get great results without these jigs. I just finished joining the 4 sides of a box for a drawer for one of my workshop worktables. I got perfect results by merely marking the locations on all pieces clearly and lining up the marks with the cursor. It might take a bit more time with the third party add-ons, but my results were great without them.

Plunge speed mainly.  But also, hold that handle on the fence down as firmly as you can.  On occasion the thing wants to climb no matter how slowly you plunge.

^This. I found that with purpleheart I have to hold the fence really good or it will want to jump around.

"Half Inch Shy" mentioned in one of his brief : ) Domino videos that he usually sets the depth with the fence in the vertical position. I think that has to do with centering the downward force applied when locking the depth.

My 500 fence has about 1/16" horizontal play with the depth lock fully open, this is reduced dramatically as the depth lock is partially tightened.
