Domino Startup Issues - Powers up slowly

Hiya everyone, just wondering if anyone has ever experienced their domino not starting up properly.

Today I was using the domino in some oak and noticed it took some time for the motor to spool up and start cutting at normal speed. Initially it wasn't so bad but the longer I used it got worst. I noticed the only fix was to twist the rear whilst holding the grip and then it would operate fine. It got to the point that it wouldn't even power up even when turned on, until of course I applied the twisted pressure.

Seems a little odd right? Soon after I stopped using it.

Seems as if theres a loose contact somewhere. Checked the plug for any burning smells but nothing. Tried on and off the vac and on various power points. Same issue.

Anyone ever experienced this issue and possible know a/the fix? Any help would highly appreciated.
Thanks.

[welcome] to the fog. sorry it couldnt be on better terms.

sounds bad. ring festool straight away

Never had the problem, but it does sound like the electric cord is not in right by your description. I would contact Festool Service and have them resolve this issue before it gets worse...

Thanks for all the replies and warm welcoming, yeah it will send it off for sure

Hi it does sound like a bad contact there has been talk of people not twisting the power lead on fully which can sometimes cause problems,

how old is the machine? has it done heaps of work?

There are quite a few antipodeans on the fog so you are in good company.

I cant remember any Aussies that have had any repairs and mentioned it.  it shows you how rarely these things happen, don't forget to tell use how you get on with the repair.

Ah has been said in previous posts sounds like a cord issue and you should call Festool.

In the mean time, if this is a cord that is shared among other festools, you may want to check (visually) the previous tool it was used in for signs of a bad connection. IF your domino does not appear to have any damage at the contacts for the cord you might want to try a different cord to see.

As is the case with new festools with the 'plug-it' cord, sometimes it only seems that you have turned it far enough for it to be secure when in fact you have not. This condition can cause damage to either the cord, the tool or sometimes both. Do NOT use this cord in another tool, until you have verified the problem as it could cause damage to it (and the next, etc).

The good news is, after several turns of removing & installing the cord, the 'lock tabs' get broken in a bit and 'fully installed' will become less deceptive.

I have never had this problem myself as I was turned on the the FOG rather early in my Festool experience which make me aware of the issue.

Good Luck &  [welcome]
