Domino switch

Hi all, got my Domino a couple months ago and have just started using it - so far it seems like a great tool as I'm sure you all know!  I have seen one issue though and I don't know if it's normal or a problem.  A few times already I have pushed the switch to the on position and the green plastic switch cap popped completely off.  Not a big deal to put back on but this doesn't seem normal to me - especially for an $850 tool.  So I ask - is this normal or have I been Diagnosed with Defective Domino Disease?

Thanks for your help
Stan

I rather suspect that you may not be pushing the switch completely on.  When that happens and the switch isn't fully engaged, it will pop back off.  Once I made the conscious effort to fully engage the switch, I didn't have the issue any more.  This holds true for the RAS, as well.  The switches are very similar.

Stan,

Sorry to hear about the switch, I remember one other member here having a similar issue.  Probably not a bad percentage when you consider how many Dominos are out there.

Call the service department at  800-554-8741 and talk to them.  Not only will they help you, but I predict that you will come out of that conversation feeling FesLove.

I don't mean the Domino doesn't stay running (though it doesn't), what I mean is the green switch cap comes completely off the machine which in turn causes the machine to stop running.

I've had the same issue on my domino a few times, but it's been pretty infrequent so far. Intend to call it in soon.

Not exactly related to the OPs actual problem, but I really wish Festool would redesign the switch on the Domino. I find it very difficult to operate and since I always hold the machine by the powercord, it's just way off for me.

I hope I'm not reading that right.

The power cord does not impress me as being a very good place to hold an electrical device, particularly not one with teeth.

I used a Domino in a class I took (don't have my own yet), and iirc, I thought at the time that the switch would be better implemented as a trigger more like the one on a drill, underneath the handle -- rather than a switch that needed to be explicitly turned off...  obviously, pull toward the handle not away from the cutter, or it would be harder to use instead of easier.  :)

I guess "power cord" isn't the right word. I usually hold on to the plug-it connector when plunging.
