Hi

Its the first time i have posted on here so apologies if I have done it wrong.

I was hoping to hear from anyone that has had the same problem as me with the Domio XL. I have only owned the tool for about 8 months and have not used it that much so far. However today i grabbed it out the box to start a project for a customer & as i was about to plunge the third mortice there was a bang that sounded a bit like a party popper going of followed by a horrid smell, the tool then ran to a slow hault.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what could have caused it? I must admit it has caused a bit of a problem for me.

Thanks for any replies in advance

[welcome] to the FOG.

Sorry to hear this, think its time for a call to Festool Service, or fill out the repair form online.

I agree with the previous post - contact service.  It is rare to hear about mechanical or electrical Domino issues here.

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies

I delivered it to my dealer this afternoon (a 110 mile round trip!). I really didn't expect this problem from a Festool machine which is making me worry i did something wrong (although i'm not entirely sure what). I had it running through a CTL35. If there is anyone in Dorset, UK willing to lend me one for a day you would get me out of a lot of trouble with a customer!

[welcome] to the FOG.

The same thing appends to me one year ago : a broken motor brush. After a return to my dealer and to the festool service, my domino XL came back completely repaired.

So, you just have to wait.

Shouldn't Festool have collected it?

It would be helpful to put your location in your profile (I see the Dorset comment in the text) - there are many questions asked on here, for which the answers vary enormously with location.

Anyway, welcome.

Mine also vented the function giving smoke, about 8 mortices to go on a bigger outdoor project.
Field packet winding was busted iirc.

Initiated a service case, put it into the systainer (with the accessories removed), that into a card box, it was picked up some days later by the local carrier and delivered back repaired 10 calendar days after it went *poof*.

As I had experienced the service of that particular in my area as lacking in the past I had tried to make festool use a different one, but to no avail (5 days in total had been lost by the carrier as the box sat around in their storages >24h each without moving). I hope they implement my suggestion to let the customer pick the carrier to use, so I could select one I know that works next time.
