Anybody ever have to replace a systainer for a specific tool? The hinged part of my systainer for my DF700 broke. I have the older style of DF700 and this systainer is discontinued. Apparently there is a new systainer for the DF700, which I can order but the foam I currently have will not fit. Of course, I can't order the foam, only the new systainer, which would be pointless. I called and filled out online form, and nobody will help me figure this out.

You should be able to get the inserts through Festool directly. They list them on Ekat, just under Workplace Organization->Systainer/Storage Systems->Systainer/Sortainer. You can find your specific systainer size and Ekat lists all of the inserts/liners available for various tools in that systainer size. Mostly confusing because they list the inserts with the systainers, not the tool itself. I think you want part number 10591587 for "Liner DF 700 EQ SG-3" for a systainer3.

The other option is to look for an empty used systainer (or one with an insert that you can toss out) and buy a new-to-you systainer.  People list the Classic and T-Loc models quite frequently on marketplace, craigslist, etc.

Dear Mr. Foltman,

This is what Festool told me:

"We do not have the original T-lock systainers. When the new gen 3 systainers came out the original ones were fazed out no longer available to order from Germany.

You can order the new Gen 3  pictured below from any Festool Dealer.

However the tool insert from the original systainer may not work with the new systainer and we do not have the foam tool insert in stock or available to us at this time."

"at this time"

But when will they have it?

Either way; buy a another equal T-Loc Systainer. Used or new. In Germany you can still buy them under Tanos label. Some Festool stock left too. Also in black with red T, (Stier), Antracite with white(ish) T (Panasonic), etc. etc.

I'm actually very unhappy with the way Festool is handling this. When I originally called, the person I spoke with seemed annoyed. Never did anyone apologize and explain the issue- just basically gave the impression that it's out of their hands and the only way to get another systainer w/ corresponding tool insert is buying another df700. I have spent several thousands of dollars on my Festool lineup. I would expect this company to at least treat their customers with respect, and try to help them out with the products they purchased.

Here is the last reply:

"To answer your other questions:

Item 10591578 is not in our system. As you can see there is no pricing for this item.
I have talked with our Inventory manager and at this time with the back order situation we currently have it may be 6-8 months before we get them.
All of our Tools come in a systainer with a tool insert.
The DF 700 is available to order from any Festool Dealer. If the Dealer doesn’t have 1 in stock and has to order a DF 700 you are looking at a 20 week backorder before we get the tool in."

It is hard for us readers to tell that they were annoyed, disrespectful, etc on the phone. That is unfortunate.

On the other hand , from just reading, it seems that they provided all the info they could in relation to getting a replacement or other options. It basically comes down to .... if they don't have it, then they don't have it.

I believe the 700 came in a T-Loc V.  Though it is probably the least available size you can probably find one for sale some where. Try a WTB in the FOG Classified board.

I have some extra T-Locs but no 'V' s.  Wish I could help.

You wrote "the hinged part broke" - does it mean that the "bottom" part is not damaged?

If that is the case, the easiest is to just buy ANY Festool Systainer T-Loc and swap the tops. They are easy to swap, needs just a screwdriver to pop-off the hinges.

If you were in Europe, you can even order the top separately from sys-classic.de. If in US, try writing to the folks at thesystainerstore.com.

You will not save much though - standalone tops cost almost the same as a SYS 1 T-Loc and are way less available.

Add:
The Festool systainers are a branded version of the TANOS products. TANOS still sells the full range of the T-Loc line. They just do not sell the Festool-branded ones ...

EDIT: Here you go:https://systainer.store/collections...t-handle-latch-light-grey-for-systainer-t-loc

Thank you Seth. I am now getting an understanding of all the systainer stuff.

[member=78342]bfoltman[/member] You should be able to order just the part you need, or swap from another Systainer. Do you have a picture of the damage?

I’ve found that inserts pretty much fit all 3 style Systainers. They may or may not be a simple drop-in but they’re awfully darn close. A little modification here or there and they’ll fit. I’d order the new Sys 3 that’s equivalent to the older T-loc 5 and swap inserts.

Yes, with a picture of the damage we might be able to help a bit more.
