domiplate

i would like to start this thread as i dont see any thread apart from the one about making it. (very disappointed there is ni review)
i would like to thank Ron for making these plates, they are a very valuble asset to the domino. i got mine in the post yesterday evening and got to play with it today. it is very well made and fits perfectly.
i used it on some scrape ply to make a sort of box. i was ammased at how easy it was to get perfectly flush joints, i ran my rail over the joining and not even a thought of a lip.
i was ammased at how easy this set was to use as this was also my first time using the other accesory that Ron reconmends for his plate "the domino" [big grin]

has anybody found any other uses for the domiplate yet

Its made me use the domino a lot more
I find it so easy to use that I trust it, don't need to dry fit a lot of the time.

Been playing with it today along with my new Incra miter gauge

Clamping the pieces to the domino plate has worked well.

I have been thinking if ways to fit a clamp to the plate to speed up the prosess.

its called the domiplate and is made by one of the members here on the forum. his name is RON Wen. this is a very valuble accesory as is automatically centers the cutter in the middle of 18mm and 12(i think)mm ply , althow probaly imperial eqivalent.

Love the domiplate!

Have actually used it to set floating shelves, and install alumasteel crown molding (an aluminum laminate that looks like stainless steel) because I couldn't use any nails, used it to join zebrawood plywood for bench seats because I accidentally cut some of the panels wrong...the list goes on and on.  When I find the time, I will upload some pix, every time I use it I'm taking pictures because I'm blown away at its ease of use.

Nice going with the Domino.

Very cool idea with the miter track and Incra but what kind of circular saw is sitting there upside down in your MFT?  It doesn't look like a Festool.

I got the Incra at a good price, the problem was I didn't have a table saw.
I wanted to have a go with the miter so built saw into my Festo FST 660/85
I went with my Mafell

I used this and not my TS because it has a blade guard
It does mean that is more difficult to make it zero Clarence.

I've found it hard to get the saw and slot parallel  so have ordered some grub screws to take the slop and guesswork out.
It needs more work, but for the time I put in I'm happy  [big grin] [big grin]

Hi Folks,
I have been using the Domino plate & 4mm tenons the past couple of days to make a dozen narrow drawers for a tool cabinet.  The drawer stock is 1/2" (12mm) thick x 1-1/2" (38mm) wide.   That is the narrowest stock that I have used the plate for up to now and I've decided that the window slot in the plate could be much narrower which would provide better support when doing very narrow stock.  I intend to make a Domino plate with a window slot of about 1/2" to 5/8" (12mm to 16mm) wide to try out.  The window would be the same length as the ones that I've made up to now.  
My question to you all is that something that I should do for all of the plates that I sell?  Would you also find that helpful?
A wise man once told me that you have to be careful what you ask for...  [big grin]  What other changes would you find useful?

Ron, why don't you slightly counterbore the holes to accommodate the O-rings?

i would make the slot narrower as there is no need for it to be that wide. changing this would make making the plates easier on you as there would be less machining.
you could add the counterbore to the plate if enough people wanted it but i see no point as it makes changing sides a nuesence and slows you down(speed was the main reason behind this plate) . i never use the o rings even with the angle support bracket supplied as i use the screws for the domiplate, i just throw them in the corner of the systainer between uses .

i would love a handle that was still easy to attech and reattach that would allow the domino to sit solidly on the table, i use an x shaped knob that i rescued from something hoarded i a box of rubbishiraplacable odds and ends awaiting use. the problem is that it rocks the domino a bit and wont sit still.  what i would like is a handle or knob that is wide enough but still easy to put on and off

Ron - I just used my plate this past weekend. Much more stable than the stock fence. O-ring c-bore would be nice but if you change from 1/2" to 3/4" stock often the o-rings would be a pain. I'm just a casual user but if the plate were wider even if to one side to accommodate a quick clamp would be nice. I was making mortises in some large sheets of ply and found it difficult to support the material and domino well enough. Any trade trick for this?
