Hey, if you are nterested about Festool and like videos, check out Festool.TV on a regular basis.  You will never know what you will find.  For instance, there are a bunch of Mike Sloggatt videos there know as well a  way to see a Sys-Roll video by Dave that I didn't know about.  You guys wanted videos and it seems that they are being added on a regular basis.

If you want to stay up to date, check it out and subscribe.

Peter, Thanks for the link.
I think Festool needs to do a better job marketing their tools to the professional contractor. Having been in the trades for over twenty years, I have only just started to hear of Festool in the last year or so. If they were to tailor more of these videos to pros, and advertise the links in trade magazines/ sites more,  I believe they would see it pay dividends. There is a perception out there (in the trades) that festool is gimmicky, for homeowners, and too expensive. I think they could approach it better.

The consensus seems to be too expensive and they think the tools are delicate. ::)

I know the C-12 makes for a great hammer and it will bounce when it comes off a second story roof.

That's sort of what I was getting at, Darcy. I just think if Festool would do more pro-type videos and advertising (similar to yours, pro tradesmen using Festool in real life job applications), they would see an improved response. Sure they are expensive, but we buy tools everyday that are expensive, because they are the best, or fill a particular need, or because no one else makes a comparable tool. If you can show the benefits that Festool offers to a pro, by a pro, I think you will increase sales/do away with misconceptions.

Mike- getting together an order

I would agree, as a Festool Dealer we try our best to get the word out to contractors. It can sometimes be hard to get our foot in the door, but we are always spreading the word of how great these tools are.

Festool TV is awesome, At night when there is nothing on TV, which is most evening I got to festool tv and just watch the videos. I seem to learn something new or get a new idea every time I go there.

Contractors tend to buy at the lumber yard or building supply stores.  Festool is more of a speciality tool store product.

Most job sites I see are still DeWalt, Bosch and Makita, because that is what is offered to that clientèle ..

Very good point, in fact I got into festool when my lumber yard started selling festools.  I just had never seen them, only barely heard of them.  But once I saw the tools and got to hold them it was over.

I think that might have been true 10- 15 yrs ago, and still may be for those less serious about there craft/ profession. I think any contractor who is looking to stay on the leading edge/ is passionate about his work is looking at all his options. I for one do most of my buying online, better selection/ less travel/ better pricing.

That's so not true around here.  All the pros are sticking with the tried and true stuff they grew up with.  I do this stuff professionally and I talk with many many cabinet shops, woodworkers and carpenters, and they see festool as a gimmick.  Ask the dealer at my lumber yard. I have offered many people I know to try my domino and track saw, but they kindly say, nah that's ok.  They don't know what they're missing and they're foolishly fine with it.

This is true across alot of trades..Folks get set in their ways and don't want to learn a new workflow on a new tool. Think of the feeling when you change from one miter saw to another, just feels weird.

I am fine with it personally, I dont' want the masses to know about Festool, I selfishly like it just the way it is.
