That's what life's lessons are.  Annoying to be reminded that we are all human and make mistakes.  Like the little scars on our hands that remind us we break if inattention pops over for a chat.
 
The very first cut I ever made with my TS75 on my 1400 rail.........and I had exactly the same result!!!!! I was gutted... [eek] The "Scar" even looks just like yours!!!!!! I never bothered cutting the rail down though, just replaced the sacrificial strip. Its stayed like that ever since.
 
2 of my guide rails have an 'accident' in them which I just put a new piece of splinter guard on and my MFS jig has been repaired with an epoxy resin more than once as well.
Shouting some obscenities and a quick fix later and all is okay again...

 
Lucky you! Now you have a 400mm rail that would be perfect to leave permanently joined to your surviving 1400 rail to make it the perfect size for cutting 1.2m sheets
