Need a semi-nice jig for some dovetails.  Mostly looking to do full through d-tails.

Don't want to break the bank but don't want garbage either.  Any thoughts for around $200.00?

cheers

Square
bevel gauge
hand saw filed rip(or hybrid), I suggest a 10-14 inch blade length over most standard DT saw
chisels.
mechanical pencil
optional coping saw with skip tooth blades

Are you sure you'll never want to do single pass half blind?  With my Leigh Super 18 I can do single pass half blind almost as fast as I can do lock rabbets.  And it will do sliding dovetails and box joints as well as through dovetails.  Super dust collection and total router support.  I use my CT33 without a bag when I've got a bunch of drawers to make.  My 1400 works well with it.

I'm assuming you're using Leigh's own vacuum accessory for their jig?  Would you say the dust collection is better than 75% using the 1400?

I have a Keller 16".  It took me longer to find a couple of scrap blocks of wood the right size to mount it on than to set it up.
It was perfect the first time.  I think it was less than half hour after taking out of package to cutting perfect thru DT joints.
It doesn't do half blind or sliding DT's. I make up a thin facing to glue on if I want half blind.
I can also use it upside down on the router table.  I like that method better than holding router above the wood.

SOLD!  I went down to Woodcraft and took a looksie at this fine jig... Needless to say they were out of stock but I should have it in my shop early next week.  I ordered the 18 on the off chance I would need to go larger than 12", but i think it will pay off in droves.

Any need for the dust collector/support arm they sell for 90 bucks?  I have never really questioned my 1400 dust collection (superb in my CMS) but am wondering if it is worth it to not contend with a hose attached to the router.

Cheers all!

If the router is mounted in the CMS, I see no reason not to hook the DC to both router and fence.
You notice the difference if for any reason you leave one hose off.
Don't ask how i know.  :o

Sorry for any confusion Tinker.  I was asking about the "extra" vacuum and router support for the Leigh Super 18.  I was wondering if it is better than just routing on top of the jig using my OF 1400 and standard shroud and CT...

I have run the CMS with one hose (tried top OR bottom) and it made a bit of a mess on my floor.... No more then my pup does, but a bit drier.

cheers

I have had it for quite a while and it is worth every penny in my humble opinion. The dust collection very good but what makes it for me is the stable sliding platform..made a world of difference. My arms were no longer sore after a few hours of cutting dovetails.

Cheers,

Yes, better than 75%.  I dovetail a lot of plywood drawer material and it is a pain because long slivers will get lodged in the hose.  Then I'll notice dust and have to clear it.  For hardwood it's fantastic.
