Anyone down under heard reasonable rumors  on release date and price for
QUADRILL DR drills 18 and 20?  [unsure]

They won't tell us nothing.... geez I asked about the New EHL65 release and was told no release plans.  1 week later it was released.

That said i will likely be seeing the local rep tomorrow at my tool store (he's there every Monday) i have to pickup a repaired core hole drill, so i will ask and see if he is forth coming with any Info.

Thanks Mike.

Just purchased a CSX having said, even here on the FOG, that I could not see a justification for Festool drills over some other manufacturers (and unlike most of Festool's products).

Now having used it, some of my other drills will soon be for sale. The DR18 or 20 appears on paper at least, to  be able to a cater  for a range of my heavier needs in one unit.

Anyone in UK or continental Europe purchased one yet and want to comment?

I was in a similar frame of mind and just picking up the CXS was enough to convince me to buy it.... now I'm nearly entirely Festool Drills

If you guys have any experience with what the normal difference is between prices in Germany for Festool items vs. what you end up paying down under, then here's the current German Prices without VAT, in Euros (€):

DR 18/4 E FFP-PLUS  € 304
DR 18/4 E FFP-SET   € 408
DR 20 E FF-PLUS  € 371
DR 20 E FF-SET   € 649

I'd have to do some serious Google Translating to determine the difference between the Plus and the Set, but I imagine you can probably figure that out.

Hope this helps by giving at least some idea of what you'll be looking at. [smile]

Cheers,

Frank

The difference between the Plus and Set version is the Angle Attachment chuck.

It's called AU-43-FFP (769097) and cost €153 in Germany. All new machines are delivered with this CXS style Angle chuck.
The picture of the Set versions shows an older and heavier Angle Chuck AU-DR 20 (769060) which costs €185 in Germany.

Thanks Frank and Neeleman

€304 is around A$461, which would make DR18/4 Plus around A$520.00 including Goods and Services Tax. But it will probably be more; justified by shipping costs from Europe.

The set versions sold in AUS are sometimes different to Europe and NA, due to perceptions/needs of our market; although you have provided a good clue in your post. If AUST and Europe sets are the same, and plus version still includes an angle attachment (be it of lighter duty), I would probably only get Plus.

Mike,
You are taking this Festool Rep for lunch, surely!  [big grin]

I'm completely Festool in drills now ... recently eBayed 2 cordless Hitachi's and a Bosch and gave a couple of others to my son.

I'm sitting a 5 cordless (3 Fes, 2 Pro) and 3 corded (all Pro) ... and stupidly hanging out for the cordless hammer drill like a need it [unsure]

I wish I'd grabbed one of the drill stands when they were going cheap.

Missed the Rep today.  But will e-mail and see if he gives me any info.

Kev.... i only  have my Makita Rotary remaining.  Im also waiting for the BHC18 and then off goes the Makita.  Current Festool Drill count sits at 4, and i use them all.

The DR18 will carry a price of $669 inc GST i was told.

We will see the BHC18 later in the year as well.

He didn't specify.  I would guess around August along with the BHC18.

Good to know when they are coming so one can better plan a purchase.
