Drill Press

I was thinking about ordering the Powermatic drill press PM2800B while it was 15% off at Woodcraft for the next 2 days. Can anyone talk me out of it? I also have looked at the Delta drill press. I was going to hold out until it went on sale at Tool Nut, but I do not know when that might be.

I much prefer an older Atlas, Walker Turner, PM.  You can usually find a nice old press for a Franklin or so.

No problem getting that down the stairs either .. and they don't take up much space [big grin]

I was looking at one of those, they're pretty nice but be advised that the slowest it turns is 250-300 rpm. If you work with a lot of metal, that can be an issue.

I much prefer an older Atlas, Walker Turner, PM.  You can usually find a nice old press for a Franklin or so.

I appreciate what you do with the classic "Made in the USA" heavy equipment. I just do not have the extra time to bring something back to life. I don't even have time to do woodworking.

Last 4, yes 4 DP I bought were under 70 bucks and needed nothing other then cleaned.

2 Atlas, one walker turner and one Delta.

I may have put a new cord on one.  Oh, two came with excellent old vises.

Not everything is a basket case.

I don't know where to look for such machines. I did look on Craigslist and I will not use eBay.
