Wondering what the consensus of opinion is on fine finishing on drywall. I already own the planex system with the 36ac dust extractor but I'm wondering what experience anybody has in terms of what sanders work best for tight areas and corners. Sometimes on smaller or even medium sized jobs (6-8 4x8shts.) setting up and using the planex isn't worth it. Also getting into tight corners on smooth finish jobs can be impossibly tough. What is the best sander for those situations? Thanks in advance!

I do a lot of bathroom remodels and smaller projects.  I sand my drywall with an RTS in one hand and a Syslite in the other.  I keep an angled sponge in my back pocket for the occasional odd corner or around the showerhead.  As light as the sander is, the vacuum suction can aid the tool weight too.  (My vacuum is another make.)

I am looking at a sander vac purchase tomorrow, would the ets or the dts be the better option?  I do have lots of corners to do, but could so that with a sponge.  Just want to keep the "divorce dust" to a minimum. tAs far as abrasives go i am seeing about 220 brilliant 2 is the go to, is this right with these sanders?  Should i be getting some  coarser ones for initial coats?

thanks

DTS.

Like Scott suggested, I'd recommend the DTS so you can hit those corners too. Grit depends on how good you or your taper was with the compound. If relatively smooth, 220 alone will be fine. If not, I'd consider 120 also.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll go with the dts. Thanks for the advice on the suction setting Shane.

DTS400 all the way! I haven't invested in a PLANEX (I would if I was to take on a lot of Gyprock work at home). I simply use a combination of an ETS150/5 and the DTS400 for wall and ceiling work I have.

Got the DTS 400 and the ct26.  WOW! I was on the band wagon before but now there is no getting off.  The no dust is just the beginning.  The vac is quiet, the sander is smooth and the I swear that sheet of brilliant 2 will last forever.  Ok maybe not forever but way longer than anything I could buy around here.  That 100 pack is looking really big.
