Hi all
I've had the awesome little DTS 400 sander for some time now, way past warranty of course, and I've noticed now the on/off switch is very hard to turn on and off.
Is there a simple fix for this? I'm not one to pull apart expensive tools generally but in this case I may if it's a simple fix.

thanks

This is a very simple fix indeed. Had this happen too.

Just unscrew the two screws on top and the top comes off. The switch is only a lever with 2 protruding tabs that catch on 2 metal pins behind it. When the metal pins get oxidated the switch becomes hard to operate. All you have to do is to clean the metal pins again. I used a dremel with a wire brush.

If it's not the metal pins, it might just be that the hinge of the switch is loaded with sanding dust. Whenever I open a sander for service, first thing I do is clean everything I can reach.

Whatever you do, don't try to use any form of lube on the switch, that'll kill your sander really quickly.
