duradrive DWC 18-4500 issue.

Hi, I'm looking for some help if anyone has any experience of this.

I purchased a dwc 4500 a few days ago, for me to get the gun working I have to take out the battery and then re-insert it, as long as I keep using the gun it works perfectly then I lay it down for 2 minutes to cut a sheet, come back and I have to take out the battery and re-insert it for the gun to work again.
I took it back to the dealer and showed him how it wasn't working until I removed the battery, he got out a new one put a battery in it and it worked fine, I assumed this second gun was fine until I took it to work the next day and once again it wouldn't work until the battery was taken out and re-inserted, its pretty annoying when you've got a sheet of plasterboard on your head and your trying to remove your battery, its not the battery because I've tried different batteries.

Does anyone know of this, I've now had 2 guns with the same problem surely the guns not meant to be like this.

I thought the motor didnt spin unless you pushed on them? Unlike normal collated guns.

That is correct the motor doesn't spin until you push on it, unfortunately you've got to take out the battery then put it back in again then push on the gun for it to work.

Send it back to festool. Also if ots been swapped make sure the new un has been registered

Send it back. Mines not like that although it does have the annoying habit of being out of reach when the sheets balanced on my head! It is a superb gun and will shoot the cheapest screws very reliably unlike my previous Makita gun that drove when it felt like it. Do take the head apart occasionally and give it a good clean when the action starts to get sticky. You will be surprised how many screws one battery will drive and the bits also last forever. Again the makita used to eat bits.

Taking the battery out should not be necessary so call our service team and we can colect to look at it.

i had  that problem with the 2500  and it was every time you put it down cut a sheet we were doing the ceiling so it pissed me off a bit today I told him to ring Festool as it was his machine. It's very weird
