Finally, I found time to replace the DD (Deluxe or Original?) with the DD2.5, which to my surprise is a lot bigger, though it's only 3.5" or so taller.
Suction on the palm felt strong, and a quick test (11 cuts plus 1 without dust extraction) showed that the DD works well. I special ordered it (just the cyclone) from Lee Valley Tools, and paid $79 Cdn.
