Dust Extractor Hose Question

I just ordered and still waiting for a non AS hose for my Kapex..Question is..Is the hose end it ships with removable? Why couldn't one just cut the hose, remove the end and then reattach the end it came with? Then just put the cut piece aside for another time. Not possible?

For me the ideal length of 36mm hose for all of my Kapex is 1/3rd of the 7m hose, which is 2.33m. Long ago, before the Kapex was sold in the USA, I bought several spare Vac Swivel connectors in 27mm, 36mm and 50mm sizes, all AS. Even when the hose wears out, the Vac Swivel connectors are as good as new. Only occasionally do I need to replace a 27mm tool connector. Because in use the 36mm tool connector usually fit over the dust port of tools, they last longer than the 27mm tool connectors which are inserted in some dust ports and over the outside with sanders.

The second time you remove and re-install Festool hose ends, it seems natural and intuitive.

What I find is that after I cut off the first 2.33m length from a 7mm x 36mm hose, the remainder is very helpful as a clean-up hose.

By the way, to simplify my inventory, I only buy Festool AS hose. I notice that Festool supplies Non-AS hoses with the CMS, so clearly that will work with routers. None of my personal friends owning Kapex use the Non-AS hose, but nearly all first used a Kapex in my shop with AS 36mm hose.

Yes.  The parts I posted above are what would be needed  to make use of that  extra piece of hose.

A utility knife does a great job.
