Dust resistance of sortainer drawers and systainers?

Hello everyone, I was wondering, do dust and bugs tend to get into (generation 3 or T-lock) sortainer drawers over time?

Are sortainers open-backed or closed-backed?

How about non-drawer systainers -- does dust tend to get into them over time (when they are closed)?

Thanks!

This might be tough to determine because, in most cases they are in a dusty environment all the time…Jobsite and shop, but I realize with seeing all the different setups on the” Systainer Store” website pictures…people use them for all kinds of different uses.

I don't know what bugs live around your area.

But I've never had live getting into my Systainers.

Some dust tends to stick (static) to the outside. Inside it stays rather clean if you don't open it.

I doubt that the drawers would stay totally dust-free, but some of that depends on you, and how much you let fly around.
The normal T-Locs and SYS3s are all but watertight. There is no seal/gasket or anything like that, but there is a tongue and groove, sort of a labyrinth seal. You can't submerge them, but nothing is getting in otherwise.
Mine are directly behind my work bench area, so stuff gets blown toward them often. I just have to blow out the shelf/drawer, once in a while. The only time dust can get in, is when the lid is open.

Mine lay right in the path of the bandsaw and lathe, and while the outside gets caked with dust and shavings, the inside is always pristine.

Thanks all. luvmytoolz, are you talking about the sortainer drawers, or the non-drawer systainers?

I've actually got mostly systainers, but my only 3 drawer sortainer is stacked on a Festool trolley in front of my lathe, so yes that also gets showered with all kinds of crap, and so far the drawers are spotless inside.

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough! ;-)

My girlfriend and I brew beer in the same space where I do my woodworking. That's a chore to keep it clean for brew day. Anyway, a mishap during a brew day had hot wort spray all over the front of my stack of Systainers. I'd estimate about 15 Systainers got the shower. Nothing on the insides, just right under the lip of the lid. Lots of cleanup on the outside, of course.
