Ebony

My local source for ebony has dried up. I am looking for the jet black stuff in pieces about 4 ‘ long, 6” wide and 1” thick.  All I can find has the brown mixed in with the black.

Ebony is becoming Unobtainable because of its endangered status and any that is/was available was sniped by guitar and musical instrument makers. Time to find an alternative. Check the link and read the DarK Outlook for Dark Woods article

Call Clark’s Hardwood Lumber in Houston. They sell African and Macassar. Not certain about the all black at any given time but they sell a lot of specialty exotics and they are I have always found them good to deal with. Their website says that they will ship. 713-862-6628

I agree with [member=4907]kcufstoidi[/member].  Ebony is getting extremely hard to find.

I was at the local Woodcraft store yesterday and they had quite a bit of Gaboon ebony...it was all jet black. The sizes were rather small though, 1"x1", 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" and 2" x 2".

I used ebony years ago and then had the project split apart.  Not my joints - the wood.  Never again for me.  Good luck in your search.
