I see Festool is releasing the edge sanding guide in the US in Oct.  I do not have an ETS or ETSC.  I own a DTSC 400.  Is the body of the DTSC identical to that of the ETS/ETSC so it will fit in the edge sanding guide?

Other than sanding slower due to the different action of the sanders, does anyone have any thoughts (positive or negative) about using the DTSC in this edge sanding guide instead of an ETS/ETSC?

Different bodies -- edge sanding guide only works with ETS 125 or Pro-5 sander.

Confirmed about compatibility. Festool has said this is only compatible with the ETS 125 and ETSC 125.

Is the Pro5 implied in that statement? It’s basically an ETS 125 with a different label.

[member=63201]RustE[/member] yes, apologies, I included the PRO 5 on our website but failed to include it here. You're correct, the PRO 5 *is* the ETS 125 REQ. Exact same sander, just by a different name for that promo.

Hi Shane-

What about the older ETS-125 EQ?  (not REQ)

I know there are some subtle differences between the EQ and REQ;  just wondering if the edge guide works on the older models.

Thanks in advance!

Anybody know if the new edge sanding guide fits the older ETS-125 EQ models?

Looking at photos online, there appear to be some subtle changes to the housing when they updated to the REQ model, and I'm wondering if the edge sanding guide will fit...

The online guidance just refers to the REQ but doesn't indicate if the older models fit or not.

My local dealer (woodcraft) doesn't know anything beyond what is on the Festool web site.

I can wait until they have it in stock and test it out then, but my curiosity is getting the better of me....

And only $99?  They aren't giving it away but that's a pretty fair Festool price for this kind of functionality.

Okay, now somebody tell me, is the ETSC 125 set worth the zillion dollars we have to pay for it?

[member=1583]Tom[/member] in SoCal sorry I missed your question directed to me. I don't know the answer, let's see what [member=71429]DerickC[/member] or [member=101]Festool USA[/member] have to say about compatibility with the EQ.

Dear all, just a quick FYI:

Austrian Festool Dealer „Mikes Toolshop“ has had a look at the new edge sander.
They confirmed that it will also mount on an RTS/DTS with no issues!

...but they also confirmed that the pad usage and surface finish you will get with those are far inferior to the Festool chosen ETS for the edge sander.

So pick your poison, but at least we know, it fits the RTS/DTS as well.

The EQ has a different housing than the REQ, so it is not compatible.

Anyone know if this will fit my exact model RTSC 400?

Never mind, translated above video comments to english.
"... impractical ..."

Search this site, there was a photo of someone that successfully adapted the RTS to the sanding guide.

I have a new ETS REQ and of course it fits fine, I also have DTS REQ and it fits fine but it does not fit on my older RTS EQ. The older sanders do not have the correct notch to accept the new guide.

This is how I made mine fit. I copied another guy on here that did the same thing.

Curious if any downside of this.

Also wondering if there is any benefit/downside of the RTS vs a ETS for this.  Like would the RTS be better?  I don't think many folks have edges thicker than what a RTS would cover.
