Don't really know if it would make any practical difference in the results, but the RTS/DTS sanders are ORBITAL sanders while the ETS sander is a RANDOM ORBIT sander.

I also believe that the coverage on the ETS is greater, in other words you can sand a piece that is thicker than you could with an RTS/DTS.

Hi all,I'm thinking to make the same thing because i have both the RTS and the DTS and I don't want to buy a new ETS 125(it's a great tentation of course).
Can someone tell me(or show me) how does it works in terms of finish and right angle results(90 degrees or out of square)?
Thanks all for answers and apologies for my bad english.. :-[

Curious if any downside of this.

Also wondering if there is any benefit/downside of the RTS vs a ETS for this.  Like would the RTS be better?  I don't think many folks have edges thicker than what a RTS would cover.
IMO the one use case would be RTS for a very soft touch on veneered edges, maybe with an interface pad if it is an old piece and the edge is not precisely flat. I would see that as a way to avoid damage from the initial contact of the sander with the material, before the rotation is slowed down by the resistance.

Also sanding inside-edges all the way to the end may be way easier with RTS than ETS.

All other use cases IMO ETS + higher grit will be a better approach even for light touches.
