has any one try to apply 3mm wood edging with the conturo,  I also can't seem get the adhesive to stick to the PVC edging - peels of easily even when scored with 80 grit.

I've not attempted3mm. I do understand that pvc has to have a primer. And that it she's out.

havent tried 3mm, the specs say 3mm will work with the contouro, I usually use 1mm edge band.

All the ABS/PVC edgebanding I've ever bought here in the UK/ EU has come with a primer already on the back...!!?? I've never needed to rough the back up of any .....

I've never tried 3mm but I regularly use 1mm and 2mm in my Conturo with no issues getting it to stick.

Have you tried the "Tear Off" test on an edge you have applied...? This will tell you how well your edging is adhering.  Once you've removed the edging, you should have 50%/50%  of the adhesive stuck to the edging and the board.

1mm pvc is also my go to edgebanding Its a good compromise between durability and flexability if doing any radius work.  Ive never had an issue with any adhesion.  If I try to pull off a fully cooled piece I will have wood fibers/parts stuck to the back side of the edgebanding.  I thought I remember reading 2mm wood was the "recommended" max. but can fluctulate some with the different species of wood but 3mm is max for pvc.  I could be wrong on that but thats what I thought.

Yes,...That's the "Tear Off" Test.

[member=75903]woodworker2[/member]  Are you sure you have the correct settings programmed into the Conturo regarding the correct amount of adhesive being dispensed..? Also, have you checked your Conturo adhesive temperature settings..? Too hot or too cold can affect the quality of the adhesion.

One thing that surprised me when I first got my Conturo, was how much adhesive appeared to be applied to the back of the edgings compared with all the other Pre Glued edgings I'd used in the past.....The iron on pre glued tape had very little adhesive on the back compared with how much the Conturo seems to require.

I've been doing some 1mm x 23mm ABS edging just this morning....Here is a picture of a short length showing the amount of adhesive required to get it to adhere to 18mm particle board.....
