Two things come to mind.

1. It's just an empty space. The old inlays offered very little space to accommodate personal additions to the kit.

2. There are "new" drill bit and bit sets for the Sys3 with attic lids. They now can be used as a stand alone kit/box because they come with their own lid, previous versions were pretty much useless when not locked into an attic lid systainer. Maybe that space can accommodate one or two of these sets/boxes.

Space could as well be too small, I'm not 100% sure on this.

Kind regards,
Oliver

1. I thought that at first, but it has finger gaps moulded in to allow easy removal of whatever goes in there.

2. I tried one of these, they are too big.

Ha.. I too was pretty sure it was for a micro systainer .. the moulded in grip recesses and all..
But, I have a couple of the older installer kits, and two of them have spare room for your own use..

It then look as a battery might fit?

Here you go:  (It’s listed on the contents list.)

That's a Metabo Bit Box. Unless I can't see it for looking at it it isn't on the contents list, but happy to be proved wrong.

When I made that post, I was not aware that the product existed.  I started googling the individual items in the inventory that they list for this product and I came up with one that showed images of the Metabo product that I showed, and another seemingly identical one done up in Festool colors.

For some reason, the image done in Festool colors would not reproduce in this site and so I listed the image done up in red, which I now know is a Metabo product.

I went back and attempted to replicate my google searches, but the page showing the Metabo piece and the Festool colored piece does not now show up.

I had no way to see if the case accurately fits in the provided space.  It definitely looks like it would.

I’m kind of surprised that no one from Festool has made a comment.  Perhaps the Festool item is just a re-branded Metabo product and they don’t want to reveal that.

I do like that they bits are color coded.  You look for the blue collar and you know you have a (#2??) Philips head bit.

I have all my bits in a plastic jar.  I have to examine each one to see what the bit actual fits.  A lot of them have a yellow band.  That is just the manufactures’ ID (maybe DeWalt?).

Any rate, I would list the color coding as an advantage.

I did wonder a bit about that Packard, as I instantly recognised this as a Metabo bit set..
I always see this set at a particular hardware/wood store I visit often.
Still, it’s a very nice and pretty complete set with the long bits as a welcome bonus.
(Here it’s shrink wrapped with a small Metabo green alu flashlight as a combo)

That looks like some of that cool stuff that we can't get here?

You can get it here…  [wink] Love this set, was hoping a drill bit case like the old zobo set before it went into a mini sys would fit there when I saw it in photos.

The only Metabo equipment that I own is a low torque electric screwdriver done up in green and black.  It looks to be the clone of a Hitachi version.

It has a couple of good features:  A light that aims exactly where the blade goes, and a clutch that achieves remarkably repeatable torque values.

Why would they use both green and black and then switch to red and black?

[member=74278]Packard[/member]  that tool isn’t a clone of a Hitachi tool, it is a Hitachi tool with the Metabo HTC sticker on the side.

The HITACHI mega conglomerate spun off the tool division and the company that bought it also bought Metabo. After years of reputational damage (in my opinion) due to the tools being designed by sneaker designers (also my speculation and opinion) the light green tools needed a make over so they were given the Metabo name. Metabo enjoyed a good reputation with industrial users so that was a boost for Hitachi but Metabo didn’t like it much so (red and dark green) Metabo got to keep it’s name and (light green) Metabo just added the HTP suffix (as in Hitachi Power Tool).

So, when you see a light green Metabo HPT tool think Hitachi. If it’s red and dark green it really is Metabo.
