End of hose came off

all i was saying was that all those seconds(really 1-2minutes ) add up . i was saying that if you were making a finish cut on a really dusty material near the clients furniture and spewed dust over them it would cost you reputation and the cost of cleaning it up. if you were sanding there would be dust anyway  but 1 or 2 rips with the ts55 would have virtually nothing

i also agree that a top of the range vac shouldnt need fixing in this way.

I've tried glueing it. Now I'm probably very bad at glueing  [embarassed] , but the result was that the whole rubber part got so stuck it wouldn't turn anymore, and you can't work with it that way.

But wait a second  [blink] ....... I paid good money for my vac ....... why should I be the one to fix it?

Alex, you are probably right about being very bad at glueing.   [tongue]   Try again, only this time put a dab of glue on the inside of the threaded collar down towards the bottom of the fitting just shy of where the end of the hose bottoms out as you finish screwing the collar on.  This will leave all glue between the threaded collar and the hose and no glue will be sticking to the other two parts (rubber end and locking collar) and gum up the works...   [wink]

And, I think you are correct in feeling that this is something that Festool needs to address.  But until that day comes, you can either live with the problem or fix as needed -- so, you are better off fixing this yourself for the time being...   [smile]

So if these ends pop off, they must be replaceable, yes?

Does anyone know where to get JUST a 27mm hose end?  (anti-static or regular)  If these can be purchased, then it would be fairly easy to make your own adapters for larger hoses.

I've had the problem too but it is fixed for now. It is worth bearing in mind that the 27mm 3.5m hose costs £93.48 as an accessory. I've said this before on here and will say it again, I don't mind Festool prices but I do (entirely reasonably) expect perfection. Anything less, particularly on a component as simple as this, is completely taking the p**s out of Festool users. How can they promote themselves as so great on dust extraction when they can't make a hoover hose properly? If I told a psychiatrist that I paid neally £100 for a plastic hoover hose that doesn't work properly, I'd be worried that they would lock me up in a padded cell and throw away the key.

Any dealer can hook you up with one. If they don't have it in stock they can order it for you.

I just recently purchased the 36mm version of hose end through Amazon. You can also get it through festoolproducts.com (The Tool Nut), or even from The Tool Nut (among others) through Amazon.  [cool]  They are readily available. Festool's part number for the antistatic connector is 487071. You should be able to find what you need on just about any site by searching for that number.
