Hi Guys, I made this for my girlfriend for Christmas day. I'm going to propose to her Christmas morning after her breaking my heart the last two years looking for a ring.
Its made from solid cherry and received three coats of Danish oil.
I free hand routed every bit of it with the OF 1010 and cut the top and bottom with the kapex. I used a 50mm 16gauge pin as the piviot for the wooden hinge.
I hade a wide pice of cherry 120mm wide and 400mm long. I marked the top one side and the bottom on the other side.
I then marked the hinges on the back of each piece and penciled in the bits I was routing out. Also on the top of the box you need to rout out the perimeter the same depth of the hinge and then route out the middle to the required depth.
Do the same with the bottom only you route out the opposite side of the hinge and the middle. You don't route the edge as I did on the top.
Once all the routing is done a quick sand and put it together and hammer in a 16ga 50mm long pin.
Hope that makes sense?!
