Erecta Rack drying rack

The green tubes with the black end caps are modular drying racks for materials that we finish in the shop and in the field.

We got away from building wooden ones just over a year ago.

The green is only coincidentally similar to Festool green. The bars have a green powder coating on them so that wet stock won't stick to them during drying and curing phases. Its a very good drying system because it doesnt use much floor space, breaks down for storage and transport.

The context was sanding and finishing cedar veneered overhead door panels. Here is how they were racked for drying:

That looks like a very handy system. Might have to think about that to save space in the shop.

This is how we had done it previously, probably like many of the FOG members:

The old racks are big and heavy. Taking them out to a jobsite meant filling the entire 8' bed of a truck. The ER system packs into a duffel bag and goes in the extra cab. Not to mention the amount of floor space the old racks take up when not being used.

Love our racks, we don't have the luxury of a shop and have to finish onsite. They work so well and are easily transported!

I too use the Erecta-rack system and while I do not use it as much as I would have a few years ago every time I pull it out I am thankful to have it.

I like how portable it is, how it stores, and how simply it assembles and breaks down.
