OK... Maybe not a real "escape", but glad my current work tour is over and leaving tonight as normally scheduled before the Ebola virus spreads any further in Nigeria. (7 cases confirmed so far.. [scared]) Still have to come back to work on Sep 13th, but there will be a LOT more info on the spread by then, and it's entirely possible that if the outbreak gets really bad here, the airlines will shut down travel in and out of Nigeria. It really is kind of scary here right now. On top of that, I have a mild cold, and don't want anyone in the airport to see me cough or blow my nose. I could end up in quarantine for 21 days!! [crying]

Having said all that, I am excited about getting back to the USA!  The Festool gods have smiled on me, and given me a sign!

I have been informed that our Florida destined shipment of our Household Goods from Germany has arrived in Florida, and will be delivered on my birthday, the 20th!  If that ain't a sign of the god's pleasure, I don't know what is.... [tongue]

So, finally going to see my treasured NAINA tools in my U.S. workshop. These include the Vacu-Sys system complete with all of its accessories and add-ons; the Conturo KA 65 Edge Bander with all of ITS associated accessories and MFT/3 insert system; my new TSC55 cordless plunge saw; my PDC 18/4 Li Quadrill; my BHC 18 Li-ion Cordless SDS Hammer Drill; four more Sortainers; my long Festool Stabila Level;  and finally, my ASA5000 Boom Arm system with the associated Energy/Air box.

Starting to think I can get my whole shop set up and functional the way I want it by Spring 2015. That includes a 2.5 ton AC/Heat/Dehumidifying system. 240V installations, Porcelain Tile for the entire floor, Installation of the ASA5000, isolation of my lathe area to contain dust and chips, and upgrading my SawStop 3HP PCS to a 5HP ICS saw.  Major components are then done!

Still to buy in the next few months  (Or at least until the Green gods introduce something ELSE new...):
Kapex 120
RAS115 Sander
Second MFT/3
OF 2200 Router
OF 1010 Router
MFK 700 Router
Second CT36
LR32 System
HL 850 Planer

After that, I'll have to wait for whatever new the Green gods come up with down the road! [big grin]

Finally feeling like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on my quest for a "Lifelong Tools" workshop odyssey. [smile]

Next post or reply by me from the good 'ol US of A!  [thumbs up]

Cheers,

Frank

Happy Birthday for the 20th Frank.

Some exciting times ahead, and I look fwd to further updates?

Just one question for now, why porcelain tiles in a workshop, are you talking about the walls, which I can appreciate, or the floor?

Frank:

I've heard rumors that exposure to certain colors of green can prevent the spread of ebola. Glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself!

I was going to ask the same thing about ceramic tiles. Walls would be nice but on the floor would kill your legs and back.

If cleanup is your goal, go with a nice hardwood or even a nice maple or oak plywood floor... Stain it whatever color you want.

Spend 1 hour standing on that floor doing work and you will regret it frank. Anti-fatigue mats can help but then you have "one more thing" to take care of.

Congrats on getting out of ground zero...

Bryan.

+1 on what Bryan said.  If you want to wash cars in the garage, ceramic might be an option.  But I think you may quickly tire of that surface for your feet and legs.  Plus dropping a tool on that may lead to cracks.

I didn't think you got a BS75 / 105 ?? Does that list mean you did? (though it's possibly more a tool you'd use away from the shop and away from your 240V services)

I was working with some kitchen fitters up in London last year. They worked for bulthuap and had a kitchen fit coming up in Nigeria but none of them wanted to go. That was way before this recent Ebola break out.
