I chanced into a mostly functional ETS 125 EQ that I was looking to fix up while waiting for my PRO 5 to ship.  The base plate where the pad screws into seems to be stripped.  There is one T15 torx holding the base plate along with the brass counterweight.  I haven't managed to break it loose.

Does anyone know if the screw is reverse threaded?  Also, any recommendations on how to keep the rotor from spinning while trying to loosen the screw?  Thanks!

They're normally threaded. I had the same thing, screw threads stripped. I just tapped them up to M5 instead of replacing the entire plate.

Thanks Alex!  I think I'll do the same for mine.  Chris, thanks for the information on the thread direction.  I can't believe how tight the fastener is, considering it's only a T15.  Either that, or I need to hit up the gym more often!

Do you have a soldering iron?  You could try applying heat to the bolts with the tip of the soldering iron.  The idea is to help release any dried Loctite or oil without damage to the mating components.  The bolts should be replaced after doing this process.

I do have a soldering iron.  I'll go ahead an order a replacement bolt prior to even attempting this, just so I don't conveniently forget to replace it upon reassembly.  Thanks for the tip!

I couldn't get the bolt off holding the sanding pad on my ETS 150.  Using an impact drill with allen key bit quickly solved the problem while hand holding the pad to prevent it from rotating.  The quick impact might be enough to loosen it without much rotation.
