ETS 125 or 150?

OK, So I have had my RO90 for a few months now and have used it on all sorts of surfaces and it works brilliantly on most.  I am now getting to the stage where I need a bigger pad for larger panels and casework and such.  I thought I was sold on the RO 150 but when I tried it out, I said to myself "Self, this seems like it would get heavy awfully darn fast".  So i started out thinking that the ETS 150/3 would be my best second sander.

I have read and reread (and reread) many-a-thread here and think I am down to the ETS 125 or 150.  Other than the new pad on the 150, is there any school of thought for a hobbyist that needs to sand down some case or ply to finishing?  I am not going to be doing a ton of it and the price difference between the two doesn't steer my decision...

As would mine.  I'm very "go big or go small", which in your case with the RO90, your next sander should be a D150. 

The 125 diameter is a "compromise" to me (Goldilocks, not too big not too small), and specifically for the ETS125, with its 2mm sanding stroke, is considered a ultra-fine finish sander.  To appease the school where stroke does not affect finish, 2mm means you'll remove material slower than say, a 3mm stroke, or 5mm stroke (as available on the ETS150).

So yup, I'd go w/ the ETS150/3

Actually the ETS125 is one of my favorites too.  Light weight, balance, single-hander, and of course, the price point.  Gorgeous finish.  I was unclear, sorry about that 

My gripe really is with the RO125... but I do see why pre-RO90 days people would have a choice between the RO125 and RO150.

Gotta go with the ETS 150/3!  It is so much more balanced when compared to the ETS 125.

In addition to the RO90 I have both the ETS 125 and the ETS 150/3 - my recommendation would be to go for the 150/3 that is the sander I use most of the time.

IMO, for larger panels and casework:
1.) RS2E
2.) ETS 150/3

I'm with Jeep Jake on this.  I find the RO 125 and ETS 125 combination just right for the circumstances I encounter.  The RO 90 complements this combination just right.

Sparks and Jeep...Yes, my ETS125 just makes me happy every time I use it. It is such a pleasant machine. ..vertically/horizontally  ...it doesn't matter ...it's smooth and calm. But, for large flat surfaces, nothing gets into the zone like the RS2E.  So far, these are my two favorite portable sanders of all time.  Between the RS2E, the ETS125, and the Rotex 90, I think that I have the portable sander category covered. If I don't, then someone please educate me, also.

Given your stated purpose, ETS150/3.

I also have ETS125 and RO150. ETS 125 is great for overhead work, furniture frames, architraves and sanding curved edges (with foam extension pad).

RO150 is great all rounder, but as such it lacks the 'finesse' of both the ETS sanders.
