ETS 125 REQ swirl marks

I have replaced my sanding pad with a new medium pad. I found a crack in the old one and hoped that would solve the issue of these marks. I must have dropped it sometime in the past and didn't realize it.

Vacuum setting is low suction, light pressure, moving slow. Cant seem to get these marks to go away. I am using Festool Rubin 2, tried mesh and another brands all with the same results. I normally don't have to sand epoxy but this table has a small amount in it and it is not finish quality sanding.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That looks like 80 grit? If you are using 40 grit that’s too coarse. Not sure if you can wet sand with the ETS without frying the sander? How much pressure are you applying? What does the FAQs say about sanding with the epoxy system you’re using? I’m guessing that the dust isn’t getting extracted, did you try a higher setting? You might also try wiping the surface off with a (moist) microfiber to pickup the dust between passes.
I think if the section is small I would block the area. Hand sand or as referred to color sand with water, that might be the best option to remove the swirls. Squeegee between runs.

You need a finer grit , or more time with the coarser grits to remove the last , coarse scratches before proceeding.

Not sure how much this has to do with it , but Rubin is for bare wood , not coatings like paint or epoxy.  Brilliant ( discontinued) or Granat would be the FT paper of choice for that.

This might be a dumb question an I will do some YouTubing after asking it. Assuming the sander is working properly. When sanding epoxy are you suppose to continue going back over the same spot multiple times to get those swirls to blend into each other? All while wiping the dust off regularly.

The grits as you work your way up will reduce the previous texture? There shouldn’t be that much swirl marks, a pig tail here and there is acceptable. Are you somehow getting the wood dust onto the epoxy and cross contaminating, creating the swirl marks? There’s more science than that. Someone else I’m sure can explain it better?

Just a very fleeting thought - are you sure the epoxy is really really fully cured?
