ets 125 with the least pressure it stops spinning. I have a $75 Bosch and cannot hardley stop it . Can really bog it down. Not the ets125

Almost all of the Festool random orbit sanders all like this to some extent.  If your sander is new it will get better.  The one thing I'll say is that these sanders aren't intended to be bore down on.  Little or no downward pressure on the sander is how it intended to be used.

I agree with Brice, you don't need to "bear down" with any RO sander, it defeats the design.

Rethink how you use your detail sanders..I have the bosch too, it's a tough little sander, but crap compared to the Festool detail sanders. I just got the DTS, noticed the "bear down" pressure is less too. I just learned to back off and let the paper do the work, and I gotta be honest, the results are waaaaaay better than anything I ever got out of my bosch sander.

That ETS is a sweet little machine, was a close second to the DTS for me. You just need to relearn how you use it. But....If your bent on bearing down, get a Rotex sander, it will take YOU for a ride.

Rethink how you use your sander..

Quote of the day.

This is what fascinates me about this family of sanders. I couldn't use them the way I had used Bosch, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Skil, Ridgid for my whole life.

The Festool sanders give you plenty of feedback if they don't like how you are working with them, but they also give you a broader power band through motor speed, abrasive grit and extraction rate.

One of my favorite quotes related to this concept is: its not about tools, but how work is done.

I think i am trying to use it how it was not intended to . It sands very well with minimum of pressure I was just wondering . I am very satisfied with the results  Thanks for the help

Sorry I'm late to the thread, but...

It looks like you bought your sander, the ES 125 rather than the ETS 125, back in 2007. Has it been performing differently until recently? If you think there's an issue with it, which I think is the case based on your poll, then please contact us to help you troubleshoot it. There's no cost for the call. The service number is below in my signature.

Your sander will be out of warranty should it need repair and I'm seeing the correct tool registration for you.

It shouldn't take much pressure to keep the pad from spinning. But like others have said, let the sander and abrasive do the work. It looks like you also have the RO 125, which you can use for more aggressive sanding and pressure if needed for quick material removal.

If there's anything I can do personally to assist you, please feel free to contact me directly. I'm glad to help out.

Thanks,
Shane Holland
