Just bought a new festool ets 125/newbie to sanding. When sanding got deep scratches & vry rough finish any advice

Let the machine have a break in period of several hours by hanging the machine on a rope and let it run in free air.
A few advices when using the ETS125:
- Don't push to hard but let the machine do it's job and only move it horizontally.
- Use multiple grids of sanding, FI. P80-120-180-240 depending on the finish of the wood and the kind of finish you are aiming at.

The ETS 125 is a finishing sander (stroke 2 mm) and not a good one for flattening rough timber.
It's mostly used for sanding already flat wood and ready to stain with a varnish.
Or used for sanding already painted wood to apply a new finish.
For flattening rough timber you better use a RAS, Rotex or ETS 150/5.

First course setting with P60-80 sandpaper, then fine setting with P120-180-240 sandpaper. Or switch to ETS 125 with P180-240.

Depends of the finish. Normally you can check/feel with your hands.
Normal single pass is a movement of 1 cm per second.
With the finer grids P180-240 you can move a little faster.

Sorry you're a little short on information.
Every time it's something else you're having trouble with, so for now I have to quit.

If you want to be taken serious you have to give full/better information, like type of sanders, sandpaper, finish of wood or paint, etc.
