I've seen on a couple sites a discount on these sanders as they say the model is discontinued? Is there a new one to replace it coming out?  Was about to buy one but now a little hesitant.

Thanks for quick response Tom.

By retro fitting, I mean can these new pads be fitted to older 150/3 s. Mine is due for replacement soon.  [smile]

Yes, they are completely backward compatible. The machine itself hasn't changed to my knowledge.

Tom,

What is the advantage to the new pads?  I have the 150/3 which I use mostly with the hard pad, what will the new design offer me?

Jack

I haven't personally tried them yet, Jack. They are supposed to run truer and last longer. The previous version was pretty smooth...

There is an obvious design change so I would guess that they found a way during manufacturing to further decrease run out?

It'd last so much longer if you put sandpaper on it!

I'd be really interested in an A B comparison of current v's new pads, or any insight on what surfaces the new pads give the significant benefit.

My first response was you cheeky 'B', it is 10 years old (see video entry). Then I remembered that recently when using my RO 150 it was not sanding until I remembered; 'Oh Yeh, I am supposed to use a sanding disc with this!'   [big grin] [embarassed]

My long time lonely Festools (before the bug bit) where an ETS150/5 and a CT-Mini. Swapping the /5's pad to Multistream made a huge difference, I'm hoping there's a corresponding improvement with these new ones - but I can't imagine it being as significant.

Thanks for the quick response.  Is there a way to tell which is the new one when looking at it?
