ETS 150/3 EQ

I have been using this sander for several years without any problems. In the past week of use I can no longer get a good finish with it. I am getting swirl marks and other patterns. I am using 150 and 180 grit Granat. I even bought a new pad since it was getting worn out. I have tried different suction settings and nothing makes a difference. Here are a few examples of what I am seeing. Any ideas?  Thanks -Kevin

If you’re using it often, my first guess is a worn bearing since you installed a new pad already.

It gets used for a couple hours most days. Is there any way to check for a bad bearing without taking it apart?

Are you pushing down on the sander? That is what it looks like to me, or you have to much suction from the vac.
The pad is not rotating. It is just orbiting.

Not pushing down on the sander. Using the same technique I have used for years. Have tried different vac levels with no difference.

I think there is something going on with the mechanics of the orbit, bearing or what not.  Still under warranty or no?

I know you tried with a new pad so I am guessing it isn't that, but just double check to be sure the pad is installed correctly / fully seated. It is possible to screw it on with the pad not seated flat.

Your sander may be fine.  It is difficult to tell from the pictures, but your wood seems to have lots of checks.  It looks like the wood is really dry and possibly not hard enough to sand properly.

Have you tried sanding another species of wood?

You've used the sander for many years - so clearly know how to use it
Some good suggestions already made; worn bearing, really dried out wood (not something I would have thought of - nice one) and is everything seated properly. 

I'm wondering if impacted dust has built up inside the sander - and has reached a 'critical' point - not allowing the pad to rotate freely.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It is out of warranty but I will send it in to see how much to fix it. I need to send in my Kapex so can put this in the box with it. Just frustrating after spending a lot of money on tools I have issues with two of them and I only use them in a hobby setting.
