ETS 150/5 shutting off

I have the sander ETS 150/5 and it is only a few months old and has less than 10 hours on it. It starts up for a few seconds then shuts off, the speed control won't work on it either. I have it hooked up to a mini. The mini still works but the sander isn't. I plugged the sander straight into the wall and it still shuts off, any ideas?

I would check the Plug It cord. Remove it and inspect it for damage.

If that does not remedy the problem or appear to be the cause, it may need to come for repair.

Sorry for the trouble you're experiencing. You can initiate a repair order on our website, which includes free shipping.

If you purchased locally, see if your dealer might be willing to let you use their demo tool as a loaner.

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately I ordered it through Amazon. I filled out the repair form and it will send it in. Thank you

This doesn't really help you any, because you can't fix it yourself, but it sounds like the speed sensor failed. That's why the speed control doesn't work, and why it shuts off after a few seconds. When the controller starts the motor but doesn't get any feedback to tell it that the motor is turning, it thinks the motor is jammed and shuts down to protect itself.

"countrysideworkshop", I'm sorry to hear that such a new tool fail! I hope you have another sanding tool :)

I'm in doubt between Rotex 150 and ETS 150, but as i have new Bosch GEX 125-150 AVE in an L-Boxx, i guess i will get myself a Rotex, to be able to polish and rough sand in a fast way.

By the way, Rick Christopherson, thanks for your Domino Supplemental Manual. It is really great resource, even for me. I'm just hobbyist, but your manual is also valuable for somebody without huge experience in woodworking!

Festool USA hires me to write owner's manuals for the U.S. market, that we call "Supplemental Manuals" to distinguish them from the factory manuals from Germany. Here is the link to my repository of Festool Documentation in one location. I also have 4 unreleased manuals that are just waiting for review before they are released, including the ETS and Rotex sanders. Those should be available shortly.

Oops, I didn't realize Shane was posting at the same time.
