ETS EC 150 eq /eqa

Hi guys,  new here but I look forward to getting involved in the future.
I’ve just bought on eBay a festool ETS EC 150 EQA ... I’d like to know if there is any difference between this and the ETS EC 150 EQ. I know the A stands for automotive but is there any difference in the mechanics or anything like that thanks?

There is a difference. "A" does not stand for Automotive, but for the German word "Absaugerkennung" which means "suction detection".

So the EQA models are the same as EQ models, with one difference, they are fitted with an electronic sensor that detects if a hose from a dust collector is attached or not. If a hose is not connected the sander will not turn on, and if the hose drops off while you work, the sander will turn itself off. You can turn this function on or off.

This EQ vs EQA is for the current generation of sanders. In the past there was only the EQ model and they all had suction detection, but apparently so many people had problems with this function that Festool decided to make the basic EQ model without it, and make the EQA for people who can read a manual.

Thanks Seth, i think that’s the first time on any forum I’ve been on I’ve had a question answered with the first response and so easy to understand
The sander is brand new and does have the instructions and warranty, the guy who bought it got it as part of a deal with another sander and vac, so I got a good deal on it.

Although I don’t get a sustainer with it, I know it is suppose to come in a sys2, does anyone know how or where I can buy the correct inlay for it?

I believe the correct insert is 705695 (Bedding Sys ETS EC 150) available directly from Festool.
