Hi Can I use american accesories like guiderails, etc on an European festool tool. Also is the Euorpean MFT/3 the same as the american one.

Besides the voltage, is there any more differences between american made Festool tools and European market festool tools?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Gino,

The tools are essentially the same, and the accessories are universal. The only differences between American made Festool tools and European market festool tools are the electrics/electronics. as well as the votage difference, many US tools lack the electronic brake.

The MFTs are identical.

With accessories, the part number will tell you if there's any difference - if it has the same part no. as in Europe, then it's identical (and I'd guess that's the case for at least 99.5% of them). The only accessories that I know are different are some of the collars/guidebushes for the routers.

Lastly,

[welcome]

Also, none of the tools are made in America, mostly made in Germany + a few neighbouring countries.

Oh, & welcome  [thumbs up]

A Festool rep told me that some of the bulkier tools (in particular the MFT) are shipped to the states in pieces & assembled in the Lebanon facility (cheaper shipping), and that as the US market grows more tools will be built over there.

Don't know how accurate that is though...

Hi everybody,

Many thanks for your valuable replies. I can finally start planning my orders. Will be a combination of Eorpean tools and American accesories.

Once again many thanks
