Although Per mentioned www.wkfinetools.com in a post, I found this site on another forum.    It is aimed at hand tools, especially, saws, chisels and planes.  But if you appreciate fine hand tools, check out:http://www.wkfinetools.com/tUsing/index.asp.

Also, there is a specific page that that provides PDFs of old - very old - books and manuals about woodworking:http://www.wkfinetools.com/z_tDownL/index.asp.  Their oldest PDF is "Practical Carpentry, Joinery, and Cabinet-Making" published in 1826!  What is fascinating is that you read about tools and ideas that are still in use today.  What is more fascinating (to me, at least) is that the vocabulary and content is much more sophisticated than is generally in place today.  (One wonders how far we have come in 180 years!)

Enjoy and regards,

Dan.

Well if it's going to be my theory, it should be capitalized:
