exciting new project I am starting a cherry entertainment center

What if you like the color you have when you finish building the piece?

Doesn't color change also occur with some of the other woods used to build furniture?

well I wiped on a 1 cut bullseye shellac coat.  then I applied the sherwin williams oil base stain raged it them wiped it off.  It came out great.  did have some discoloration due to the cherry ply had a few rough places where the wood was run through the plane while making it, i think.  I sanded somewhat before hand but with ply you don't have much wiggle room.

going to customers house tomorrow to start assembleing the cabs.  I have been take lots of pic and will start posting soon.

here are a few pics.  one putting on the shellac cut.  the other the wood, then me domonio the ends.[attachthumb=#]

For those of you looking at coloring or staining cherry, you might want to check out the post magic under the finishing section for photos in post 29.  instant aging of cherry - not a stain.

There is an article in the new Popular Woodworking magazine on finishing Cherry.

There is also a nice shaker inspired piece as a entertainment center.

Picked mine up last night a the book store.

Best,
Todd
