expanding the mft

I know that you can order the extended rails to expand the MFT, along with 2 table tops.

Now here is the question, would festool make wider table legs? If they expanded the existing legs by 443mm, I could replace the existing ones and swap the rail sides around.

Would the table be stable enough for large work? I would still like to be able to fold and store the MFT when not in use.

I have viewed the section of expanded MFT's and I'm jealous, but some of us are still relegated to using the garage as our shop and need to park our cars in there once in awhile.

There was a former member of the FOG on Yahoo who cut the horizontal bar between the legs and welded in another piece to bring the leg spread to the needed dimension. He said it worked fine.
