Expected price increases in '11?

I read over the threads on the "sister" site.  Seems to validate what I was told.  Lie-Nielsen stopped distributing through a dealer network now doing direct sales to the public and Woodcraft changed lines to increase its profits.  I'm not condoning the change and I'm actually upset that I don't have the selection from them that I used to (plus the 10% off specials that could be applied to them).  If customers don't buy the Wood River line...guess what!  Bye bye.  It's always about money.

Well, I decided to break out the credit card and pick up the Domino Set and the Systainer of tenons yesterday and not worry about any potential increases.  It was REALLY hard for me to fork over that amount of money, but I figure it will get put to good use, and I already can incorporate it into a current project (with some practice first). 

Incidentally, I showed my wife the various videos on YouTube of the Domino, and she was intrigued enough to want to learn more about it.  Always easier to justify the cost of a hobby when the significant other is interested as well.  [wink]

How long have you been married BigHonu? What you neglected to discern from the wife was what she intended to get you to build for her.

On the plus side of the equation, wives that want something built for them can often be convinced that you need to buy another tool so you can build it.

True, very good point! I am a relative noob in the marriage department...11 years this year, and she still surprises me every once in awhile.  I have to say though that she has always been supportive of my hobbies.  She even bought my MFT/3 for me.

Do most of the price increases occur March 1st?  If so, when would Festool let us know of the price increase?  I'm on the fence for only a few items and I would like to snatch them up before they go up in price.  If prices stay stable for another year, I might wait until I actually need to use the item.  A price increase warning would be wonderful.

In the past it seems that the dealers have alerted us to a price increase prior to it going into effect.  I hope they still adhere to that courtesy.

Maybe you have the same philosophy about New Year's Resolutions that I do.  I always resolve not to drink, not to eat too much, etc.  If I keep them, thats cool, but if I break them - that's even more fun!  [big grin]

I have a feeling the prices will be going up this March.  It's hard to imagine that the RO90 will only be $20 less than the RO125.  I hope Festool gives us a warning beforehand.  Although, I just made a large Festool purchase just in case they do raise the prices . . . the anxiety of a price increase was just too much for me.
