Extira mdf

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Extira mdf?

Looks like tricoya what I use but tricoya has a much longer life span

Extira claim 10years

Tricoya claim 25years underground and 50years above ground

I’ve left it in a bucket of water for a month and it haven’t absorbed any water.  It was exactly 15mm thick and month later still 15mm thick

We have used it for signs and a few other exterior applications. It does not have much structural strength much like MDF. The texture is not quite as fine as MDF but it paints well. We have outside signs fully exposed that are over 10 years old and look like new. 

What were you considering using it for?

I have some cladded  posts to rebuild that are rotten on the bottom half

I use it. It's great for exterior trim.
Mills like MDF, very heavy and like Oldwood says, not structural so it needs a good backer.
Does not deteriorate in water so it is good for cladding exterior columns and stands up to snow and ice. You don't need to prime the cuts as it is water proof throughout. You can use any exterior rated (titbond 3 etc.) glue to bond it.
