I stumbled on a series of metal working videos titled “abom79”. The machinist works on mostly huge lathes and milling machines. He creates replicas of failed parts or repairs failed parts. He occasionally creates new parts from drawings. His level of precision is amazing.

I do a lot of lathe work on a professional sized lathe, often to a high precision (for wood). I’ve learned a lot from the videos and find them absolutely fascinating.

I have a Claro walnut blank on the lathe I will start turning today. I’ll use some of the tricks I’ve learned.

I really like "This Old Tony" as well, not as posh but he's funny, honest about his mistakes and its very well edited.
Another one I've been watching a lot of recently is "Tech Ingredients" which gives loads of info on composites, hi fi speakers and all sorts of random but interesting stuff. Plus its not dumbed down too much.

Oh and "Clickspring" which is mostly clockmaking which I doubt I'll ever do but its very interesting to watch.
