FastCap Track Rack on Garage Doors

For those of you who use FastCap's Track Rack to store your guide rails on your garage door:

Anything you particularly like or don't like about doing it that way? Any problems you've had?

Appreciate any feedback - I'm trying to get a little more efficient with my space, and this would help, but for some reason, I've always hesitated to use the space on the garage door itself.

I have 4-5 rails in varying lengths (from 800 to 2700), and they would be arranged on the door horizontally. The door I have in mind goes up and down several times each day.

ETA: I've also always been a little concerned that these would damage the splinter guard. Is that a problem anyone has had with them?

I've seen photos all over the place with tracks behind garage doors. My neighbor, an owner of a garage door business, strongly advises against putting anything (let alone tracks!), except light-weight insulation material where needed, on the door as it adds stress to the motor every time the door is open. If your garage door doesn't open every day (and more than one time like mine), it might, just might, be ok.

I mount them rail side down to protect the splinter guards and they work fine. On a garage wall anyway, haven’t tested the back of the door, yet…

Live in FL.  Have hurricane braced garage doors.  I chose a construction glue to mount them to the inside of the garage door, letting them fully cure/harden/dry following instructions before using them.

I can't imagine they add enough mass to mess with the motor/door interaction.  I have not upgraded my motor, which uses a chain to raise/lower (I have a 1/2 HP for the single and 1/2 HP for the double...they are equally rough and loud despite one having roughly double the load than the other--I mounted them to the double door).

I'll be home tomorrow, so can take pictures/double-check.  I have Makita tracks (I know, I know) 1 short, 1 long and 5 FastCap track racks to hold them.  If memory serves, I put them in a spine down/splinter-strip up configuration.

Zero problems, they work like a champ, had them for several years now.  I also have a ~5 foot level and an 8 foot level hanging out on the hurricane braces which are perfect for that, as long as you put them hanging down not on top of the brace--it interferes with door operation (ask me how I know).

The hurricane garage doors are likely unique to the rest of the states, and so YMMV.

I also have the splinter guard up at the green dial.

I’ve had my 4 Makita rails and TSO parallel guide system on my garage door for years. With the Makita rails I needed to mount the FastCap brackets up said down so the splinter edge faces up. I highly recommend the FastCap brackets.

They're good to go.  I have 3 tracks currently mounted on my garage door without issue (having an insulated door helps being able to screw into the door). 

Like others have suggested, I have the brackets installed upside down so the splinter guard isn't compressed / bent from the weight of the track.
