Now that holiday season is upon us i thought i would get some thoughts from other Foggers about their favorite city's in the world.

For me it has to be Barcelona.  Been twice now & cant wait to go back again, so much i have not seen.  Whether it is walking down Las Ramblas watching all the street performers or visiting Goudies masterpiece's, the atmosphere is fantastic & weather is great also.

I can thourally recommend it to anyone who has not been.  I know everyone has their favorite so lets hear it & why  [smile]

Thanks, Woodguy.

It is Paris for me

Modified 7/23/10 for Brice
Here are a couple night shots we did the last night in Paris.

Okay, for those of you that don't know, the same rules apply for traveling as tool acquisitions: no pictures, it didn't happen. ;D

In a previous life I spent five days in January in Chicago and man the bars in Rush Street take some beating!!

Sorry Brice no photo's taken, but great memories!! [big grin] [big grin]

Will post some pics as soon as i figure out how to downsize them & post  [embarassed]

I vote for Lebanon, Indiana!  [big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

Peter

Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii -- small, warm, close to the beach and in the tropics [big grin]

Bercelona might be it for us, too. We spent a week there for our 25th anniversary and loved the museums and the outdoor cafes.

We just got back from a week in Italy, though, and Rome/Florence have to be up there on the list just because of the history.

In the US, I like San Francisco, Austin, and Nashville.

+1.  The history, the sights, the museums, the bread, the metro, even the famous hardware store
just to name a few attractions. Been there 3 times and would love to go again.

Austin TX, hands down. It will soon be the home of Formula One Racing in the United States in addition to everything else.

I also am very fond of Barcelona, Paris, Maranello, Ansterdam, San Francisco, Munchen, NYC, Boston, and Copenhagen.

Since Brice wanted pictures, here are a few of the place I call home...

Texas Capitol - made of locally quarried pink granite and bigger than the similar building in Washington D.C. because it can be. BTW, Texas is bigger than France.

[attachthumb=#1]

Barton Creek Greenbelt - 7 miles of preserved nature, I walk about 3 blocks to get to it.

[attachthumb=#2]

Barton Springs Pool, 1000' long, spring fed pool (~27 million gallons per day @ ~68 degrees F) - I walk about 1-1/2 miles to it, or drive, or cycle.

[attachthumb=#3]

[attachthumb=#4]

Lake Travis - one of many beautiful lakes within a half hour or less

[attachthumb=#5]

Beautiful city with most citizens concerned for it's natural and architectural beauty.

[attachthumb=#6]

[attachthumb=#7]

Live Music Capital of the World - even if self-proclaimed.

[attachthumb=#8]

In a couple of years, we should host the return of Formula One in the United States. I will hold a Festool Formula One party for all Festoolians who also like real auto racing. Left-turn only enthusiasts need not bother.

Vijay I missed the hardware store.  I must be slipping in my aging years.
We have been there twice and would love to go back also.

I'm a Festoolian who'll attend that party

Come on down, Joe! It should be in a couple of years. Of course, if you're here in the interim, I'd love to see you also.

Favorite City?

Hmmm.... I think I found it!  [smile] The town/area we call home.
Victoria, British Columbia. Canada
We are on an Island: Vancouver Island http://salmoneye.net/siteimages/Vancouver_Island_map.jpg

Not to be mistaken for Vancouver with all the rain they are getting  [scared].
Victoria, it's mostly sunny and on top of it we are only getting max 2-5 days of snow a year! Overall a very mild climate.

Down side:
Crap loads of tourists... I think it's somewhere around the 3 million mark through the summer!
There are also those freaking high costs for houses/apartments--guess too many people wanting to move here....

But the best thing is, the endless activities one can do within a short drive/walk or bike ride. Just today we came back from a weekend trip 80km from here. Camping at China Beach

My favorites are Portland, Chicago, and Dublin.
My brother lives in Austin, nice town for sure, to hot in summer for me though.  Also, growth is out of control down there.

Hmm, 316 views & only 9 people reply with a favorite city  [blink]

OK, well I didn't post as I haven't been to many 'cities'. We tend to go on beach holidays rather than city breaks. I've been to a few in the UK though, and my favourites are London, Bath, and Edinburgh.

There's lots of cities I'd like to visit - top of my list is most cities in the US (except Las Vegas, that never appealled to me - until Festool spoilt that by opening up there, if I do ever make it across the pond I'll have to go there now!).

A couple of our friends left yesterday for a trip to the US - 2 weeks in Boston (visiting relatives) then a further 4 weeks driving from there to LA, via New York, Washington, and various other cities I can't remember, before heading up the coast via San Francisco to Seattle.

Not that I'm jealous at all.

No, not me.

Definitely not.
