Feedback on McFeely's 2.5

Hey folks,

We recently changed our website and we're affectionately calling it McFeely's 2.5 (hence the name of the thread). For a long time, we've debated over the best presentation for screws. If you've been to our site before, you've seen this display:

That was ok but it left some things to be desired. Most notably, you couldn't search by head size or length (which is the industry standard).

Well, we've changed things around to make the website easier to use for screw shopping. Our new layout looks like this:

And you can sort by head size, length, bit size, bit recess, thread type or plating. It's pretty sweet and if anyone is interested in giving me some feedback, I'd love to hear it.

Hi Ron,

Couple comments:

• The picture of the screw are sometimes too small which make it difficult to quickly get what you are looking at. (the zoom is nice though)
  
• If you could add more than one search criteria at a time that would be great.
  
• Adding a column with the head style could be usefull

Thanks for the feedback. The head type is at the very top of the drill-down process (my link was to flat head specifically) but maybe we should change that to make it clearer.

And I think your other two comments were gold as well. We'll compiling a list for McFeely's 3.0 as we speak so that's very helpful.

Breadcrumbs (like "FESTOOL OWNERS GROUP > SALES ZONE > All Sales-Related Discussions" at the top of this page) are a great way to show what criteria the user used to get where they are.

Ron,
First let me start by saying that I now have several assortments of your screws. They are fantastic and I recommend your site to others when they are looking for quality screws. I especially like the addition of the Festool Systainer assortments. That was a great idea.

The problem I had with the old site, and it continues with your "improved" site, is that I'm just a hobbiest. When I first went to your site I had no idea what I wanted, nor where to find the information that I need. Yes, you have some great information about the screws you sell, but it really doesn't help people like me. I'd like to suggest that for hobbiest that you have some "package" deals, much like your screw assortments, for people like me who build furniture. You could even use the same assortments that you affer and add in explinations for the "uneducated screw users" out here as to what types of assortments would be best for the types of work that they do. In short, the site has so much available that it is still confusing.
